Structural Victorian Branch hosts Industry Workshop with Dulux Protective Coatings Wednesday, 15 April 2015

With a theme of Practical Design for Structural Steelwork the Structural Victorian Branch hosted a half day workshop at Crown Convention Centre on 19 March. With around 100 delegates represented by structural and civil engineers, designers, contractors and builders, the workshop raised awareness on how organisations can build a competitive advantage by improving produc tivity and reducing risks.

Taking a ‘whole life’ approach, the workshop focused on practical aspects in the design, construction and maintenance of structural steelwork. Leading the conversation were three industry experts who shared their knowledge across the rights and wrongs in the detailing of structural steelwork. Dominic Li, Chair of the Structural Victorian Branch opened the session introducing the speaker panel represented by Robert Gaudin, Principal Structural Engineer, John Holland Group; Dr Russell Keays, Keays Engineering; and Daniel McKeown, Specification & Project Consultant, Dulux Protective Coatings.

Hear what the delegates had to say

”I think that the speakers were well vetted and appropriately experienced. You picked three individuals that all spoke clearly, confidently and concisely. Well done.”

“The topic was relevant to structures that I design on a daily basis. There was ideas discussed that I had not considered myself before; for example, corrosion between Bolted Moment End Plates and Back-to-Back Angles.”
