What we can do to become better leaders in our industry Wednesday, 13 May 2015

On the 6th of May, Young Engineers Australia Sydney (YEAS) & The Centre for Engineering Leadership and Management (CELM) conducted a very successful Leadership Workshop at Sydney.

The event explored the concept of leadership and how every engineer can unlock their leadership potential. The evening was a relaxed informative workshop conducted by James Phillis; past Chair of CELM.

At the event, our attendees discovered that in order to lead others they need to understand themselves, what inspires and motivates them. Understanding and empathy are the marks of a good leader, and that this self awareness should be further developed by reflecting on our experiences, both in leadership and life.

The event was attended by approximately 40 young engineers, and everyone walked away with a new perspective on leadership and loved the open and interactive style of the workshop.
