This is your Engineers Australia – be part of it! Thursday, 30 June 2016

Message by Helen Link, General Manager of Engineers Australia Newcastle

Engineers Australia is an organisation where many members contribute their knowledge and time to provide leadership in many key areas.

Nominations for 2017 are open now

In accordance with governance processes, nominations and elections is your opportunity to have your voice heard. Eligible members may nominate for Board Directors, Division Committee, College Boards and National Congress vacancies.

These positions will enable Engineers Australia to deliver our role in maintaining the standards of engineering education, the professional development of our members, and being the trusted voice of the profession by providing advice to governments and public comment on engineering matters of national interest.

Nominations are now being called for two positions of the 2017 Newcastle Division committee. To be eligible to enter for the vacancies available, you must be a financial member of the Newcastle Division, and have demonstrated experience as an office bearer or volunteer in Engineers Australia or similar professional association. The position is a minimum 2-year tenure.

Visit engineersaustralia.org.au/elections to ensure your nomination is received by 29 July.

Join the discussion on the State of the Engineering Profession

Engineers Australia has produced the inaugural State of the Engineering Profession Report. This report addresses the policy priorities of Engineers Australia over 2015- 16, and presents our position on a number of key issues facing the Australian economy and community.

Engineers Australia is calling on the Australian Government to show leadership in shaping a prosperous future for Australia. We require an aggressive policy framework to drive medium to long term growth, based on growing our productivity and increasing our self-reliance. We believe that without this framework, businesses will continue to be reluctant to invest, and our State and Territory Governments will lack direction.

The College of Leadership and Management is hosting Dr David Cruickshanks-Boyd to discuss ‘State of the Engineering Profession’ with Newcastle engineers and interested parties. David is the National Director for Sustainability for WSP I Parsons Brinckerhoff, and was the 2015 National President of Engineers Australia.

We encourage you to join the discussion on this important topic on 21 July. Click  here to register your attendance.
