Forum to address energy opportunities in Central QLD Thursday, 09 November 2017

The upcoming Central Regional Forum is promising to raise a platform for the discussion of future energy policy, and the opportunities which will be made available to Central Queensland as a result.

The forum has been pegged as a must-attend event for engineers and consultants from a huge range of disciplines, including water, manufacturing, gas, electricity, planning, telecommunications, government, energy storage and mining.

Many industry-leading experts have already confirmed their participation as presenters. Topics to be covered as part of the forum include hydrogen renewable technology, solar thermal air conditioning, battery technology, and the Algoda Renewables Project.  A heavy focus will be placed upon the practical application of these energy technologies, and specifically how they can create opportunities local to Central Queensland.

Excitingly, Professor Jose Alarco of Queensland University of Technology has been confirmed as a presenter, delivering a session on batteries in technology.  The Materials Scientist will bring a wealth of expertise and experience, having been involved in the research and design of battery and other nanotechnology materials for almost two decades in both academic and commercial capacities. He has co-developed and holds numerous patents in generic processes for the manufacture of nano-scale complex, metal oxides and for applications in catalysis, batteries and electronics. Professor Alarco currently fills the role of Chief Investigator in the Auto-CRC Project with the Malaysian Automotive Industry for Lithium Battery Manufacturing Scale-up and Process Optimisation.

The Central Regional Forum will also highlight the findings of the recent Finkel Review, to be delivered by Paul Locke of the Department of Environment’s Energy Division, and a response from Engineers Australia CEO, Peter McIntyre.

Additional expert presenters will include Trevor Gear of Ergon Energy, Dr Michael Dolan of the CSIRO, Dr Ramadas Narayanan of Central Queensland University, John White of the Department Infrastructure and Local Government and Planning, and Ben Kolle of GEM Energy.

Participants will also be able to explore the insights of Forum presenters during an interactive session with the panel.

The Central Regional Forum is due to be held on Thursday, 30th November.  Tickets are still available for purchase.
