NT government prioritising infrastructure Thursday, 14 January 2016

Mark Monaghan, General Manager of Engineers Australia Northern Division, welcomed the news in December 2015 of record investment in NT infrastructure exceeding $74 million.

“Consistent investment infrastructure is vital for the Northern Territory to achieve long-term sustainable solutions in the region,” said Mr Monaghan.

Acting Minister for Infrastructure David Tollner said in a statement last week that the NT Government is investing more than $1.5 billion in infrastructure across the Territory this financial year.

“Since 1 July 2015, more than $338 million has been spent on projects like building Henbury Special School, investing in transport infrastructure as well as on repairs and maintenance throughout the Northern Territory,” Mr Tollner said.

“Government investment should be applauded,” said Mr Monaghan, “where large and small projects realise much-needed infrastructure progress in the North."

“It is also particularly encouraging when local expertise contributes to the successful outcomes of these projects,” Mr Monaghan added.
