Press for Progress with business leader Naomi Simson Friday, 10 November 2017

Engineers Australia is delighted to announce that Naomi Simson will present at our three International Women’s Day events taking place in Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney next March. As one of Australia’s most prominent entrepreneurs and business leaders, Naomi will share her experience and insights with over 1,000 attendees across the three locations.

Naomi is known as the founder of online experience retailer RedBalloon and also as an investor on Network Ten’s popular television series Shark Tank.

A true business influencer and leader with more than 2 million LinkedIn followers, she’s Australia’s most followed person on the business networking platform. She’s author of three books including the bestseller Live What You Love, I Want What She's Having and Ready To Soar.

Engineers Australia’s International Women’s Day Project Lead, Amanda Rodgers believes Naomi will both connect with and inspire our audiences. “We are absolutely thrilled to have Naomi on board to share her insights and experience, inspiring people to ‘Press for Progress’ which is the 2018 International Women’s Day campaign theme.”

The theme acknowledges that while the world has made a lot of progress in regards to gender parity, we cannot become complacent. It is important that we continue to work together as individuals, companies, associations and government organisations to initiate positive change.

‘Press for Progress’ strongly aligns with Engineers Australia’s recently released A profession for all document, outlining that there is less than 13% female participation in the engineering workforce. The document identifies that achieving gender diversity and inclusion in the workplace is not something that can be done by one organisation or sector of society alone – it is a collective effort.

“Gender equality is a key part of Engineers Australia’s diversity strategy and our International Women’s Day events provide us the opportunity to collaborate with industry and individuals to collectively bring about change,” said Ms Rodgers.
