The Sunshine Coast Light Rail: Shaping our future project has been recognised nationally by the Planning Institute of Australia (PIA).

The Sunshine Coast Council and HASSEL team won the 2015 Australia Award for Urban Design (Programs) for the project which is awarded by PIA in the Policies, Programs & Concepts – Large scale award category.

PIA states on their website that the Award is designed broadly to include a variety of designs, developments and publications that “will make a significant difference to the places, spaces, buildings and infrastructure of our cities”.

The Australia Award is supported by many professional bodies including Engineers Australia.
