Overseas Qualified Engineers

Supporting migrant and non-migrant engineers in Australia.

About Engineers Australia's Overseas Qualified Engineers

The Overseas Qualified Engineers Group (OQE) aims to provide support for Overseas Qualified Engineers. It runs interactive seminars and workshops throughout the year aimed at provoking thought and giving practical, useful advice and guidance to aid the integration of OQE's into the Australian workforce.

The objectives are to:

  • Provide skilled overseas engineers with guidance and motivation to improve their communication and chances of securing employment in the Australian engineering industry.
  • Facilitate knowledge and participation in the technical professional development programs provided by the various discipline specific units of Engineers Australia.
  • Provide social and networking pathways for career development and training opportunities to assist overseas engineers’ integration and effective deployment in the engineering workforce.
  • Encourage and support overseas qualified engineers who are non-members to become members of Engineers Australia and advance their professional development.
