Checklist and guide for Fellows

At least one primary identification document – a passport photo page, a current driver's license or a copy of your birth certificate

Degree certificate (testamur)

Academic transcript

Previous Assessment Letter from EA can be uploaded in lieu of qualifications

Current Curriculum Vitae (CV) or Résumé.

Support from at least 2 current Engineers Australia Fellow Members; OR
-
A Statutory Declaration, witnessed by a Justice of the Peace, may be provided explaining why you have been unable to gain Fellow support. Please note, this option is available to those working overseas or in remote areas, but every attempt should be made to provide support.

In addition you can provide a Statement of Support from a Fellow Member of a reciprocal MRA Engineering organisation.

General information
To apply for membership at the grade of Fellow, you must:
- Have held a sustained major responsibility in the design or execution of important engineering work; or
- Have high education qualifications, held a prominent position in the profession and made a major contribution to the science or practice of engineering; or
- Have had suitable engineering education/training, extensive responsibility in the design/execution of important engineering work and achieved exceptional eminence in the profession.
- In all but exceptional circumstances, an applicant for Fellow will be a Chartered Member or have been Chartered with Engineers Australia
Specific information - occupational categories
When completing your application you will be asked to nominate your Occupational Category. These categories are based on your educational qualifications, and your post-nominals will indicate both your Grade and Occupational Category. In each category, assessment is made by a panel of peers and is moderated nationally.
The categories include:
Professional Engineer (FIEAust)
To qualify, you must have followed or are currently following the profession of engineering and either:
- Be eligible for MIEAust
- Held a sustained major responsibility in the design or execution of important engineering work; or
- Have high education qualifications, held a prominent position in the profession and made a major contribution to the science or practice of engineering; or
- Have had suitable engineering education/training, extensive responsibility in the design/execution of important engineering work and achieved exceptional eminence in the profession.
Engineering Technologist (TFIEAust)
To qualify, you must:
- Be eligible for TMIEAust
- Held a sustained major responsibility in the design or execution of important engineering work; or
- Have high education qualifications, held a prominent position in the profession and made a major contribution to the science or practice of engineering; or
- Have had suitable engineering education/training, extensive responsibility in the design/execution of important engineering work and achieved exceptional eminence in the profession.
Engineering Associate (AFIEAust)
To qualify, you must:
- Be eligible for AMIEAust
- Held a sustained major responsibility in the design or execution of important engineering work; or
- Have high education qualifications, held a prominent position in the profession and made a major contribution to the science or practice of engineering; or
- Have had suitable engineering education/training, extensive responsibility in the design/execution of important engineering work and achieved exceptional eminence in the profession.

Fees
Upon submission, payment of an assessment fee is applicable to all grades other than Student, First and Second Year Graduates.
Annual fees appropriate to the Membership grade are paid to finalise the application.
