Overview
The ACT/NSW chapter of the Railway Technical Society of Australasia in collaboration with the Transport Australia Society and the Australian Railway Association are convening an in-person presentation at Engineers Australia's office in Barton, Canberra to provide a technical update on stage 2 of the Canberra Light Rail. The scope of the presentation will discuss the key technical components of the stage 2A works, the engineering decisions associated with the procurement of new dual powered light rail vehicles and retrofitting of all existing LRVs with onboard energy systems, and the technical challenges associated with the stage 2B scope of works. This in person event is an important opportunity to gain an insight into Canberra's largest infrastructure project and discuss rail technical matters with the project's key technical minds.

About the speakers
As Market Leader Transport for Sydney at professional services company GHD, Rebecca Want has more than 25 years’ experience in strategic transport infrastructure leadership roles, including at Sydney Metro, Sydney Trains and RailCorp. Rebecca has worked on city-shaping projects such as Airport Rail Link, Epping Chatswood Rail Link and the Sydney Metro Program and led customer transformation programs including technology, business improvement and built-environment streams. She was recognised at the Australasian Rail Industry Awards in 2022 for her contribution to the rail industry with the Career Achievement Award. Rebecca is an Appointed Director of the ARA Board and also Chair of ARA's Women in Rail Committee.
David is the Acting Project Director for Canberra Light Rail within Major Projects Canberra. With 30 years’ in the building and construction industry, David has considerable technical experience in large scale, complex infrastructure projects. His career has included senior leadership positions with design consultancies and client-side roles, including local government and educational establishments and he has supported development projects through business case, planning and approvals, design, procurement and delivery stages.
