Overview

Based on engagements with rail operators at a global level, Rory will discuss the trends and drivers behind the digital transformation taking place in the rail sector with a focus on the imminent adoption of 5G based FRMCS. The presentation will highlight the benefits offered by 5G and describe how it’s capabilities will lead to the digitalisation and automation of the rail environment.

For those who attend in-person, light bites and drinks will be served during networking. 

This event is hosted by Railway Technical Society of Australasia (RTSA).

About the speaker

Rory McDonnell
Account Manager – Rail Business Centre, Nokia

Rory works within the Nokia Rail Business Centre as an Account Manager. Rory previously led Business Development activities for the Transportation Segment in Oceania, covering Railways, Highways, Aviation, Ports and Logistics. With over 20 years international industry experience, he possesses a wealth of knowledge in the of area telecommunications systems. He performed the role of technical engineering lead on several high-profile projects before becoming a Global Solution Architect for Transport. Rory moved from the UK to Australia in 2014 to perform a pre-sales technical design role in Optical Networking. Rory was awarded a MEng by the University of Hull.
