Have your say on proposed mandatory registration for SA engineers

The South Australian Government is proposing a new registration scheme for professional engineers.

The scheme would first apply to engineers in the building and construction industry and expand to cover other areas of engineering in the future.

The proposed scheme would initially include civil, structural, hydraulic, mechanical, geotechnical, electrical and fire safety engineers in the building and construction industry.

Consumer and Business Services has considered the engineer registration schemes in other states as well as feedback from key professional associations in the proposed scheme and has developed a discussion paper (PDF) for further consultation.

Have your say

If you wish to respond individually to the consultation, please note public consultation closes this Friday 8 September at 5.00 pm ACST.

As a key stakeholder Engineers Australia will also be sending a response to the discussion paper. You can express your interest to contribute to Engineers Australia’s submission by emailing us before close of business Tuesday 12 September.

Engineers Australia will provide feedback aimed at ensuring the proposed scheme is nationally consistent and does not create significant burden or cost for the profession.
