An end of year message for our members in Victoria

As we wrap up for the end of the year, Engineers Australia would like to thank our Victorian members for your continued support.

We’d like to take the chance now to look back at the achievements of our Victorian members and committee groups in 2023, and their contributions to the engineering profession and community.

It has been an incredible year! We’ve seen Victoria grow to over 28,000 members and become the largest division of Engineers Australia, with the highest numbers of Fellows, Engineering Executives and female engineers, and the second highest number of Chartered members.

Victorian Division Committee President Ross Kristinof FIEAust CPEng NER says “it has been wonderful to see so much great activity throughout the year. Our members have led and shared a tremendous amount of knowledge and learning through our professional development programs.

“We have celebrated together at the leadership and fellows’ recognition events, and at the excellence awards showcasing the vastness of engineering talent in the Victoria. It is also a great privilege to see our division host the Engineers Australia Excellence Awards and the Climate Smart Engineering Conference.

On behalf of the Victorian Division Committee, I want to thank all our hard working and dedicated office bearers across all 27 chapters, branches, committees and technical societies.”

Our members have been a crucial part of our work to advance the science and practice of engineering to benefit the community. The work you do to elevate the voice and influence of the profession is so impactful.  Engineers Australia would like to thank you for being a part of the progress we’ve made this year,” Mr Kristinof says.

Alesha Printz, General Manager Victoria highlighted that engagement with members throughout the year has been strong and has included celebratory opportunities such as recognition of new Fellows, EngExec and Chartered members and local awards recognising the best of the engineering talent in Victoria.

“I’m also really proud that we have contributed to growing the pipeline of engineering talent through the STEM outreach activities we’ve hosted with local schools and education providers, plus the opportunities we’ve created for overseas qualified migrants to connect with the profession,” Ms Printz says. “Engineering skills are critical for our future and we are an important part of the ecosystem that builds the skills that we need.

“Next year promises to be incredibly exciting for the Division as we grow our local policy and advocacy capability, STEM programs, build on our member engagement and increase engagement with regional members.”

Lastly, to all our members, thank you for playing your part in advancing society through great engineering! We wish you all the best over the holiday period and into 2024.

Engineers Australia’s holiday shutdown period will run from Monday 18 December 2023 to Friday 12 January 2024. During this time our office will be closed and there will not be any events held.
