Engineers Australia members recognised at the highest level in national honours

Engineers Australia congratulates our past and present members who have been awarded national honours for their outstanding service and contribution to society.

Members who received an Order of Australia include the late Emeritus Professor Robin William King for distinguished service to engineering, tertiary education and to the profession through executive roles.

Dr Graham Cameron Grant for his distinguished service to biomedical engineering as a pioneer of innovative equipment development which includes a portable premature baby incubator and a low-cost respiration airway monitor.

Dr Cynthia Alison Mitchell, an Engineers Australia Fellow since 2012, was also awarded for distinguished service to the environment through water resource sustainability as an innovator, leader and academic.

Engineers Australia National President and Chair Dr Raj Aseervatham said this year’s Australian Honours highlight the deep well of talent and commitment to service within our engineering community. 

“It fills us with immense pride to see such strong representation by Engineers Australia members. To all the honourees, these awards are pivotal in shaping and promoting our national values and ideals. Your contribution is inspiring, and we congratulate you on this well-deserved recognition.”

Engineers Australia CEO Romilly Madew AO said the Honours reflect the pivotal role engineers play in shaping our world.

“The recognition of these outstanding engineers in the Australian Honours is a testament to their exceptional contributions to both the profession and the nation. Their achievements not only elevate engineers and engineering but also significantly contribute to the betterment of our society," Ms Madew said. 

Our engineers are among 1042 people recognised across three categories, Order of Australia honours (General and Military Divisions), Meritorious awards, and Distinguished and Conspicuous awards (Military).
