Dr Bronwyn Evans appointed to the Australian Broadband Advisory Council

The Morrison Government has appointed Engineers Australia CEO Dr Bronwyn Evans to the Australian Broadband Advisory Council.

Minister for Communications, Urban Infrastructure, Cities and the Arts, the Hon Paul Fletcher MP, said the knowledge and expertise of Dr Evans would be of great value to the Council in providing advice to the Government on broadband connectivity.

“The Council provides important advice on how we can maximise the economic and social benefits from the widespread adoption of high-speed digital networks, including through increased take up and use of the NBN and 5G,” Minister Fletcher said.

“In today’s world, connectivity is essential to doing business, keeping in touch with loved ones, taking advantage of government services, and much more.

“Dr Evans’s background in the construction sector will be useful as the Council continues its exploration of the barriers and opportunities for connectivity in that sector,”

Dr Evans said she was looking forward to using her broad engineering skillset and perspective in the Council’s work.

“The role of the NBN is central to our ability to maximise the economic and social benefits of broadband connectivity. In almost all sectors of the economy and community there is the potential for broadband to be positively transformative, and engineers and engineering will need to be central to any implementation strategies ,” Dr Evans said.
