The purpose of this project was to investigate, identify and assess the barriers confronting women in engineering in order to find ways to redress the underrepresentation of women in the profession. This was completed as a partnership with Engineers Australia and Monash University as part of the Monash Industry Team Initiative (MITI) project.
Women in Engineering: National Committee position statement
The Women in Engineering National Committee is committed to improving gender diversity in the engineering profession. It supports the United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) and the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), Women’s Empowerment Principles and encourages organisations in the engineering profession to take a lead and sign up to the Principles.
Developing a national disability strategy
The NCRE strongly supports the primary aim of the discussion paper to create a more “socially inclusive Australia for people with disability”. It is the opinion of the NCRE that to achieve this worthwhile outcome, it is essential to provide appropriate assistive technology to Australians with disabilities, including those who are acquiring disability through ageing.
