The discussion paper is intended to give guidance to policy makers and other stakeholders in planning and delivering Australia’s Urban Transport Systems (UTS). The scope includes changes to the transport systems themselves and associated investment and decision-making processes.

In this submission, Engineers Australia demonstrates that demand for engineers in Australia will always outstrip supply from domestic entry level graduates. A skilled migration program will, therefore, always be needed.

Facade and external wall fire safety design
The guide provides a fire risk assessment methodology for suitably qualified and competent professionals to determine the potential hazard of fire spread via the facade of existing buildings. It offers a pathway to deliver a risk assessment appropriate to the situation being assessed and enables a level of safety to be defined, from which the assessment goals can be set and agreed with building stakeholders.
Road pricing
This paper is intended to inform discussion on the potential role of road pricing in managing travel demand and addressing revenue challenges, recognising implementation and social equity considerations.

This report analyses and presents statistics describing the characteristics and size of Australia’s engineering profession over the period 2006 to 2016. It is the first report covering the three population censuses over the boom and bust cycle during these years.
