Working with teachers on STEM projects
The guidance set out in these guidelines focuses primarily on establishing and maintaining sound relationships with teachers for each of the above endeavours.
NER direct assessment
NER Direct assessment is open to members of Engineers Australia and non-members. This guide outlines the steps you need to take to get assessed.
Engineering national resilience
Engineers Australia presents recommendations concerning the 2022 Federal Budget, focused on building sovereign capability, beating climate change and investing in people.
EHA Magazine, volume 4, edition 1
This edition looks at Sydney’s Balls Head coal loader, Canberra’s ill-fated railway, the Lake Canobolas Pump House, and A.T. Harman’s Port Melbourne Engineering Works.
Aviation infrastructure
This document has been produced with an aim to improve aviation in Australia and is intended to inform discussions contributing to Australia’s aviation economy, which is essential for communities, industries, businesses, and tourism. The focus of the paper is on the airport, from the air to the land side, including transport infrastructure planning and engineering, today and in the future.
Australia's skilled migration program
In this submission, Engineers Australia demonstrates that demand for engineers in Australia will always outstrip supply from domestic entry level graduates. A skilled migration program will, therefore, always be needed.
National Water Reform Draft Report
This letter builds on our August 2020 submission to the Productivity Commission’s National Water Reform Issues Paper, and highlights areas of strength and weakness from the Draft relative to our previous submission.
Future Fuels Strategy
Engineers Australia is a strong supporter of initiatives to reduce emissions, grow Australian industry, workforce and
strengthen our domestic fuel security. This submission provides general comments as well as specific answers to the questions posed under the priority initiatives.
Enhancing productivity in infrastructure delivery
The purpose of this document is to engage Engineers Australia members and the engineering-adjacent community in a discussion about what it will take to increase productivity in the infrastructure industry, and to determine how engineers can best contribute to meaningful evidence-based policy development.
EHA Magazine, volume 3, edition 7
This edition looks at Perth's Secret WWII RAAF Bunker, Tram substation machinery in Melbourne, and new home for the NSW Australian Railway Historical Society, and the 2021 Australasian Engineering Heritage Conference.
CEO roundtables: COVID-19: busines as unusual
EHA Magazine, volume 3, edition 4
This edition covers the Nowra Bridge across the Shoalhaven River, Concrete Pontoon at Circular Quay and the Australasian Engineering Heritage Conference 2020.
Report on the fire safety verification model
Fire safety engineers from across Australia tested the Fire Safety Verification Method (FSVM) in the 2019 National Construction Code, using six different typical case studies of performance-based designs that were typical of projects being undertaken at the time. They followed the methodology in the FSVM and associated handbook to identify the benefits and disadvantages of this approach.
Facade and external wall fire safety design
The guide provides a fire risk assessment methodology for suitably qualified and competent professionals to determine the potential hazard of fire spread via the facade of existing buildings. It offers a pathway to deliver a risk assessment appropriate to the situation being assessed and enables a level of safety to be defined, from which the assessment goals can be set and agreed with building stakeholders.
Road pricing
This paper is intended to inform discussion on the potential role of road pricing in managing travel demand and addressing revenue challenges, recognising implementation and social equity considerations.
EHA Magazine, volume 3, edition 1
This edition explores the launch of EA Newcastle Divisions’ Oral History Collection, the Völklingen Ironworks in Germany, a foghorn in the Shetlands, the Steam Pumping Engine at Lake Boga, and more.
EHA Magazine, volume 2, edition 7
This edition explores engineering and industrial heritage in the US, the Railway Bridge over Eddy Avenue in Sydney and provides reflections on engineering in Vietnam.
EHA Magazine, volume 2, edition 5
This edition takes a look at the Murtoa Stick Shed, an American’s View of Australian engineering heritage, the case of two missing engineers, and the Woolloomooloo Finger Wharf.
