This paper is designed to elicit feedback that will inform decisions by Engineers Australia on its potential role regarding improving engineering practice for management of air in the built environment, especially in the context of COVID-19 and future pandemics

Engineers Australia appreciates the opportunity to provide feedback to the Australian Bureau of Statistics on the targeted update of ANZSCO proposed changes. This letter has been developed to assist the ABS with the update by providing comments specific to the areas being reviewed relevant to the engineering profession. 

Engineers Australia's submission in response to the Insurance Council of Australia consultation paper Role of the Private Insurance Market – Independent Strategic Review: Commercial Insurance.

This document has been produced with an aim to improve aviation in Australia and is intended to inform discussions contributing to Australia’s aviation economy, which is essential for communities, industries, businesses, and tourism. The focus of the paper is on the airport, from the air to the land side, including transport infrastructure planning and engineering, today and in the future.

In this submission, Engineers Australia demonstrates that demand for engineers in Australia will always outstrip supply from domestic entry level graduates. A skilled migration program will, therefore, always be needed.

This letter builds on our August 2020 submission to the Productivity Commission’s National Water Reform Issues Paper, and highlights areas of strength and weakness from the Draft relative to our previous submission.

Engineers Australia is a strong supporter of initiatives to reduce emissions, grow Australian industry, workforce and
strengthen our domestic fuel security. This submission provides general comments as well as specific answers to the questions posed under the priority initiatives.

Despite considerable effort, there is still much to be done to improve girls’ participation in STEM education and careers. The Engineering for Australia Taskforce has appreciated the need to act based on four issues they have identified. This paper reviews the international research literature that not only focuses on barriers to girls’ participation in engineering, but more importantly focuses on the value of interventions to improve diverse participation in engineering.

The purpose of this document is to engage Engineers Australia members and the engineering-adjacent community in a discussion about what it will take to increase productivity in the infrastructure industry, and to determine how engineers can best contribute to meaningful evidence-based policy development.

There is no discrete definition of engineering or engineering capabilities in the Australian curriculum, unlike mathematics, science and technology. Rather, for foundation to year 10, engineering is addressed primarily across three learning areas: science, technologies and mathematics and through a specific focus on engineering principles and systems in the design and technologies strand within technologies learning area.

This discussion paper is intended to give practical guidance to transport professionals on how they should incorporate consideration of climate change into their work. It should be seen as a statement of principles and objectives and does not replace or supersede engineers’ obligations under other engineering guidelines and standards.

This document aims to improve marine transport infrastructure and services in Australia. It is intended to inform discussion in relation to the important issues and challenges faced in the industry currently and to ensure the industry has the capacity and capability to efficiently harness future growth opportunities from new and expanded industries.
