This paper has been developed by Engineers Australia’s Transport Australia Society (TAs) to provide expert advice to governments, policy makers and other stakeholders with a role in policy, planning, operating and delivery of Australia’s urban transport systems.
Urban transport systems
The discussion paper is intended to give guidance to policy makers and other stakeholders in planning and delivering Australia’s Urban Transport Systems (UTS). The scope includes changes to the transport systems themselves and associated investment and decision-making processes.
Mobility as a service (MaaS)
This paper is intended to inform discussion on the potential role of MaaS in improving transport system efficiency and creating a seamless travel experience.
Developing a national disability strategy
The NCRE strongly supports the primary aim of the discussion paper to create a more “socially inclusive Australia for people with disability”. It is the opinion of the NCRE that to achieve this worthwhile outcome, it is essential to provide appropriate assistive technology to Australians with disabilities, including those who are acquiring disability through ageing.
